Formation
A planet is in its own debilitation sign, but under specific conditions this debilitation is "cancelled." Classical conditions: (1) the ruler of the debilitation sign is in a kendra, (2) the ruler of the exaltation sign is in a kendra, (3) mutual exchange (parivartana) between two planets. Under all these conditions the Yoga activates. Result: the planet is not just weak but actually "rises to royalty after the cancellation."
What it produces in life
A person carrying Neecha Bhanga Raja Yoga lives the typical "hero's journey." Early in life there's great loss or hardship — poverty, loss, illness, exclusion. These difficulties aren't temporary, they shape the personality. Then in middle-late life, the person experiences return from where they fell; but this time lasting, deep. The old world collapses, the new world is built. The Yoga's gift: the ability to transform trauma into wisdom. Prominent in modern psychotherapists', social activists', born-again entrepreneurs' charts. "Fell but rose" type — Steve Jobs' chart is a classic example.

The Yoga doesn't mean "won't experience hardship" — on the contrary, "will experience hardship but transform it." Can be painful in youth; the result is full.
