Decan Rulers (Triplicity)

Dekanik Yöneticiler · Faces / Yüzler

Definition

Decan rulers are the sub-ruler system created by dividing each sign's 30° area into three 10° decans. Two systems exist: the modern triplicity system (each decan is ruled by the next sign of the same element in zodiac order) and the classical Chaldean system (the 7 planets Mars-Sun-Venus-Mercury-Moon-Saturn-Jupiter distributed in sequence). Modern astrology mostly uses the triplicity system. If the native's Sun is at 15° Leo: 1st decan (0-10°) of Leo → Sun is the main ruler; 2nd decan (10-20°) → sub-ruler is Sagittarius → sub-ruler Jupiter. The Sun + Jupiter blend colors this position. In classical tradition decan rulers are called "faces"; in horary they add extra precision.

In practice

Divide the birth degree by 10, keep the remainder: 0-10° = decan 1, 10-20° = decan 2, 20-30° = decan 3. For modern triplicity, look at the same-element sign in zodiac order — its ruler is the sub-ruler. astrobobo's /dekan page uses this system.
