Transits

How it works

A transit is read by the actual sky's aspects to your natal chart at any given moment. If Mars is at 15° Leo right now and your natal Sun is at 15° Leo — Mars is transiting conjunct your Sun. This is the basic transit technique; modern and classical astrology both use it heavily. Fast transits (Moon, Mercury, Venus) show daily impact; slow transits (Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, Pluto) bring themes for years. The most-used technique in modern astrology. Classical tradition reads aspects simply (conjunction, square, trine); modern astrology runs more complex with minor aspects, midpoints, careful orb calculations. In both methods the logic is the same: the real-time sky "triggers" the natal chart.

When to use it

Always; the basic tool for understanding the day's energy. To see which area of life is being activated, focus on slow-planet transits — if Saturn is transiting your 7th house, relationship themes are active for years.
