How it works

Zodiacal Releasing is the most complex Hellenistic technique. Detailed in Vettius Valens' 2nd-century Anthology, made accessible again 1,700 years later through Project Hindsight's translation. Two versions: releasing from the Lot of Spirit (for career/dharma) and from the Lot of Fortune (for body/material). The technique's basis: starting from a Lot, moving sign by sign. Each sign's duration differs (Leo 19 years, Cancer 25 years, etc.). Within each major period are sub-periods (4-5 months), and within those sub-sub-periods (weekly). The result: a tool for seeing life's chapters and the scenes within. Chris Brennan's 2017 book popularized this technique single-handedly.

When to use it

For the question "what does this large life-period carry?" Releasing from the Lot of Spirit is used to see career-eras — e.g. a Leo period from 27-46 is a personal-calling / spotlight phase.
