How it works

Profections is a Hellenistic technique: each age corresponds to a house. At age 1 the 1st house, age 2 the 2nd, ... age 12 the 12th, age 13 back to the 1st, age 14 the 2nd, etc. The ruler of the active house is the "lord of the year." That year, that planet's transits, natal placement, and aspects are especially important. At 30, 30 mod 12 = 6, so the 6th house is active; the ruler of the 6th speaks throughout the year. The most-used technique of the post-Project-Hindsight (1993) Hellenistic revival. Central in classical texts, forgotten in modern psychological astrology, now widespread again.

When to use it

At year's start for the "what theme this year?" question. Divide your age by 12 and add 1 = active house (e.g. age 30 → remainder 6 → 7th house). If the 7th is active, themes of relationship, partnership, open conflict come forward.
