Bharani

Mythology

Bharani means "the bearer" — the threshold that carries the newborn in and the dead out. Its deity is Yama: the first man to die, lord of the realm of the departed, judge of dharma. Symbol the yoni (womb) or elephant: birth and death pass through the same gate. Venus rules — the valuer, the appropriator, but here under tension.
