Meaning

The Lot of Fortune is the most-used lot in Hellenistic astrology — it symbolizes where the soul falls into the body. Modern astrology simplifies it as "the lucky point," but its real meaning is more subtle: the chart of the native's life-bodily condition, physical well-being, material relation with the world. Whichever house it sits in, that area has natural light and flow. Which planets aspect it? — the sources from which unearned ease will come. The day/night birth formula reverses it; this is one of the rare "formula changes by birth time" elements in astrological tradition.

How to read its placement

Fortune in 1st house: relationship to the body is the main theme. 2nd: material conditions. 6th/12th: health and hidden resources. Also look at any planet aspecting it — that planet's theme colors Fortune.
