Essence

Fixed modality is "the sustainer" — the four signs at the middle of each season (Taurus, Leo, Scorpio, Aquarius). A fixed sign carries forward what someone else began, sustains it, ripens it. Astrologically, the strongest "determination" quality among modalities is in the fixed signs. Strong fixed: once a decision is made, no turning back; high carrying capacity; keeps their word. Lives life as long-term sustenance — preferring durability over founding. Fixed deficit: scatter, can't sustain, perpetual drift. The four fixeds carry in different domains: Taurus (matter), Leo (creation), Scorpio (transformation), Aquarius (vision).

Shadow

Fixed excess: rigidity, refusal of change, head-butting. Carrying a wrong decision for years just because "I won't turn back." The opposite extreme: seeking softness, hiding strength.
