Meaning
The Saturn return is modern astrology's most famous and most feared transit — the first lands around age 28-30. The person crosses from a youth template into an adult template; passes through the tension between "who you thought you were" and "who you can actually be." Work, relationship, health, identity — Saturn's natal position shows which area gets emphasized. This period is full of structure-changing events: marriage, separation, career change, a family loss, starting a new discipline. The second return (~58-60) is the "matured identity check": what have you built, what will you carry? The third return (~88) is the wisdom exam.
How to prepare
Good preparation 1-2 years before the Saturn return: don't neglect health, be financially settled, be clear in relationships, choose which area of life you take seriously. Showing up late costs especially much in this period — Saturn is the god of structure, doesn't forgive the scattered.
Common pitfall
Classic trap: lying to oneself to dodge the Saturn return — clinging to a non-existent career, carrying a finished relationship. Silencing the inner voice when it's clear comes back as 5 years of depression or stalemate.
