Demetra George

Origin
Massachusetts, USA
Key works
Asteroid Goddesses (1986), Ancient Astrology in Theory and Practice (2 vols, 2019-2022)

Contribution

Demetra George combines two major contributions in one person. First: in 1986 with Asteroid Goddesses she added the feminine asteroids (Ceres, Pallas, Juno, Vesta + Lilith) systematically to astrology — the start of modern feminist astrology. Second: from the 2010s, turned to translating and teaching the Hellenistic astrology tradition — the interpreter of the Project Hindsight translations. Her two-volume Ancient Astrology in Theory and Practice is 2,500 pages of Hellenistic technique. A rare figure bridging classical astrology with feminist reading. Still an active teacher; every year trains dozens of students in applied astrology.

Why they matter today

Modern feminine astrology + the Hellenistic revival — a central figure in both. Still living; an astrologer's work that has stayed current for 40 years.
